Welcome to the Theory of Mind website.
THEORIES OF LIFE, MIND, AND EMOTIONS, based upon Physics, Biology, and Psychology,
are integrated within this website. Many ideas and theories of others (Walter Cannon,
Abraham Maslow, B.F. Skinner, Victor S. Johnston, William T. Powers, Robert Plutchik,
Bernard J. Baars, Erwin Shrödinger, and many more), are integrated herein. But the
three core theories are Bio-Market theories by neurobiologist Dr. Peggy LaCerra,
psychologist Dr. Gregg Henriques, and IT consultant John Keeran. All three of these
researchers independently came upon the same theoretical construct and were published
independently in the late 1990s. The jargon differs between the theories, but the
underlying ideas corroborate each other. Though all three theories are grounded in
thermodynamics and evolutionary concepts, these theories can encompass and allow for
spiritual and religious beliefs.
TO ORIENT YOU, the left-hand panel of buttons guides you through the Keeran
version of the Bio-Market theories: Emotive Energy. The right-hand panel has frequently
asked questions, links to other related websites, and additional useful material.
In the center of the banner above is a link to the
MindEmotionBlog
with entries elaborating ideas presented elsewhere within the site, answers to questions
presented by others, or other ideas yet to be integrated within the "woven theories" of
the main site.
On the right-hand side of the banner is the
Emotive Energy Behavioral Diagram (EEBD)
with virtually all of the major concepts built into a simple model. Though the model is
3-dimensional, the diagram portrayed is a "cut-away" side view. Viewed from the top, the model
appears to be either circular or "saddle shaped" with half being green (positive emotions)
and half red (negative emotions). Overall, the 3-D model has a shape similar to a "dog dish"
with a high ridge around the outside and a pit in the middle. The diagram in the banner
is also a "hot link" which takes you to an in-depth elaboration of the EEBD.
An easy guide to understanding the EEBD model is to think of an automobile or
a car as an analogy. For a car, you can go forward or reverse. Plus, you have a gas pedal
to control how fast you go forward or reverse. With the EEBD model, the green line is
"forward". (You want something and "seek" it.) The red line is "reverse". (You don't
want something and "avoid" it.) The gold area represents how "fast" or how much you
"want" or "do not want" something. This is "gold" because you frequently spend money to
get something or to get away from something. But this can also represent your time and
"sweat" (physical and mental energy). The more you want something, the harder you "push
the accelerator" and spend your resources (time, sweat, & money). The faster you want
to get away from something, again, the more you "push the accelerator" and spend your
time, sweat, and money. So, the green line is "seek", the red line is "avoid", and the
gold area is how hard or how fast you seek what you want or avoid what you do not want.
1 HAPPINESS BUTTON: Since many visitors only want to
quickly understand the essence of happiness and a few insights into life and emotions,
the first chapter focuses on four ways to achieve happiness and well-being. The
remaining chapters are for the hardy visitors who want to understand the workings of the
mind and emotions in-depth.
2 OVERVIEW & OTHER BUTTONS: The overview page acts as a "Table of Contents"
and covers the remaining buttons as well as why the material is presented in the order
that it is.
